Abstract

The study of stellar evolution is an active major branch in astrophysics. Results from stellar evolution studies are indispensable for studies in some other areas such as chemical evolution of star clusters and galaxies. Recently theoretical/computational studies of stellar evolution often involve large populations of stars (~106) which need databases of evolution tracks with various realistic parameters (mass, chemical composition, etc). In this paper, an attempt in building such a database and construction of animations of the evolution of stellar internal structures and isochrones which is useful in teaching stellar evolution were described.

Abstract

The persistences and variabilities of the hydrometeorology had been studied in the Upper Citarum River Basin, West Java, based on monthly observations data of the rainfall, evapotranspiration, humidity, and runoff from January 1968 to December 2000 and monthly global phenomena data from National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) and National Centers for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) reanalyses. The results showed that rainfall, evapotranspiration, and humidity have two firm persistences i.e. wet and dry periods, while the runoff has no firm persistence. The stability of rainfall and humidity were less than evapotranspiration and runoff; the stability patterns of rainfall tend to increase, whereas, the evapotranspiration tend to decrease; the stability patterns of the humidity and runoff have no firm trends; the rainfall and runoff have very high variability i.e., 73% and 62%, respectively. The result indicated that the processes of the rainfall and runoff were very chaotic, while evapotranspiration and humidity have low variability i.e., 19% and 3%, respectively. These data indicated that the evapotranspiration and humidity have low pattern, variability patterns of the all hydrometeorological components had increasing trends, the hydrometeorological components were influenced by global phenomena as a consequence of the significant correlations between hydrometeorological components and some global phenomenas, especially Central Indian Precipitation (CIP), Global Temperature (GT), Dipole Mode Index (DMI), Pacific Warm Pool (PWP), and Precipitable Water (PW).

Abstract

Six resveratrol oligomers, namely (-)- ε-viniferin (1), (-)-laevifonol (2), (-)-vaticanol B (3), (-)-hemsleyanol D (4), (+)-isohopeaphenol (5), and (-)-hopeaphenol (6) have been isolated from the acetone extract of the stem bark of Shorea brunnescens. The structure determination of these compounds were based on spectroscopic data (UV, IR, 1H NMR), and compared with literature data. The cytotoxicity of isolated compounds against murine leukemia P-388 cells showed the IC50 values as 18.1, 23.2, 41.9, 12.3, 39.7, and 5.5 µM, respectively.

Abstract

A multinuclear Fe-Mn-Cr complex with 4-amino-1,2,4-triazole (NH2trz) and oxalate (ox) ligands has been synthesized successfully. The formula of the [Fe(NH2trz)3][ClO4][MnCr(ox)3].4H2O complex has been obtained based on the metal and C, H, N contents. The presence of water molecules, metal-ligand bonding and bridge ligand in the multinuclear complex has been confirmed by its infrared spectrum. The compound crystallizes in the hexagonal system with cell parameters of a = b = 18.695 Å and c = 57.351 Å. The compound shows a gradual spin crossover for iron(II) in the [Fe(NH2trz)3]2+ with transition temperature (T1/2) of 205 K. The antiferromagnetic interaction between Cr(III) and Mn(II) ions in the [MnCr(ox)3]n n- network is observed from the Weiss constant (θ) of -2.3 K.

Abstract

Two geranylated flavonoid derivatives, namely 2-geranyl-2,4,3,4-tetrahydroxydihydrochalcone (1) and 8-geranyl-4,5,7-trihydroxy-flavanone (2), had been isolated from methanol extract of the leaves of sukun (Artocarpus altilis). The structures of the two compounds were determined based on UV, IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectra, and by comparing with the previously reported data. The presence of these two compounds in A. altilis indicated that the leaves of Artocarpus plants tend to produce more simple flavonoids.

Abstract

For a simple graph G = (V, E) with the vertex setV and the edge setV, a labeling l :V ÈE ® {1,2,...,k} is called an edge irregular total k-labelling of G if for any two different edges  e = e e1 e e2 and  f = f1 f2 in E (G) we have wt (e) wt (f ) where (e) = l (e1) + l (e ) + l (e2 ). The total edge irregular strengths tes (G) of G is the smallest positive integer k for which G has an edge irregular total k-labelling. In this paper, a dual of an edge irregular total klabelling is introduced. Beside that, the total edge irregular strengths of a graph mK2,n -path and a graph mK2,n for any positive integer m ≥  1 and n ≥ 2 have been determined.
